Elmers ‘mentors’

Elmers are the “mentors” of Amateur Radio.

If you have an interest in a specific area of Amateur Radio, please message us on our Facebook page: Facebook DARC and we will connect you with an Elmer that is knowledgeable in that area.

Some common topics in Amateur Radio:

Becoming a Ham

Emergency Comms-  Public service and helping others.

HF- Communicate with the world

VHF- Communicate locally with friends

Public Service- Volunteer at one of our many events

Electronics- Digital gear and microprocessor’s are dominating the hobby right now.

Homebrew (DIY built gear)

Digital Modes- Send a message really far with a minuscule amount of power.  Maximize efficiency.

CW (Morse Code)- Dit-Dah-Dit-Dah  Dit-Dah-Dah. The original digital mode.

Satellite Ops: Talk to astronauts or people across the country using satellite mounted repeaters.
